Stress in the workplace is increasing, resulting in increased absenteeism and the growing threat of litigation.  Experts point to the pace of change and technological advances in the workplace as a significant factor in its remorseless rise.  The symptoms of stress range from minor illnesses to excessive use of alcohol and drugs and in the extreme to anxiety and breakdowns.  In the workplace this can manifest itself in a rise in conflict and aggression resulting in deteriorating relationships.

It is estimated that the cost of stress in the workplace in British Industry is £5 billion, therefore, combating stress at work is becoming increasingly important, if only for cost effective reasons.  The benefits of a Stress Management programme include: -

bullet

Lower absenteeism and higher retention of staff.

bullet

Improved efficiency, quality and productivity.

bullet

Less conflict and aggression.

bullet
Improved working relationships.
bullet
Improved individual mental and physical health.
bullet
Greater focus and creativity.

In order to deal with stress effectively it is critical to see it as a cultural development process. Although, one off training programmes are valuable, when used in a holistic a stress management programme the benefits are more sustainable.

Bespoke programmes are tailored to meet the needs of individual organisations and typically include: -

bullet

Analysis and report of organisational tension and stress factors.

Recommendations towards the development of a Stress Management Action Programme.

Coaching and counselling.

Workshops designed to suit specific work environments.
